Illustrating and Animating a Law Firm Holiday Card

For Patterson Belknap’s 2023 holiday card, we crafted graphic illustrations to narrate the firm’s story and honor the past year’s achievements, drawing inspiration from their team members and the clients they support.

This concept highlights Patterson’s deeper connections to their team and clients. We took an illustrative approach, using double exposure, paper cutouts, and typography; we pictured having the illustration move throughout the video as a single piece of paper that falls away to reveal layers and messaging, similar to classic holiday cards. The paper cutouts are used to expose silhouettes of landmarks, people, holiday/winter scenes, and messaging, all designed to give viewers a sense of the “layering” that Patterson offers to their team and clients. The final message highlights the firm’s collective movement into the future, while looking ahead to the coming year with hope and optimism.
